What the fuck is wrong with me? It's 4:21 AM and I've got like a 15 hour work day today. Why can't I sleep? I have no idea but plenty of time to figure it out because I'm fucking wide awake.

03:51 pm - meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
So I got hired today for the second time at Petro-Canada - It's minimum wage, but I don't fucking care, I love the job. Different manager than last time, but she seems pretty nice. She knows the guy I work for at the Upstairs, too, so my schedules work together perfectly. Moneymoneymoneymoney.

I'm moving out very soon, Cori starts a new job next week, too. Life is good.

I think I have to......pack? I haven't packed my stuff in a long time. Before I was 12, I probably moved 10 times - I've been in this house longer than any other one (I moved here in 5th grade and I'm 20 now). I hated moving so much, but this is much nicer.

Time for bass.

My day thus far:

12AM-4AM = Hangin' out with Cori at the Upstairs, watching Carmen and her band rock out. Really good time. We came back here and hung out for a bit.

I can't remember when I went to bed, but I didn't get to sleep until like 7. Insomnia sucks.

7AM-10AM = Sleep.

10AM = My mother waking me up to tell me (for the first time) that someone is coming to fix a pipe in the furnace today at 12 o'clock, and that she wouldn't be home, so I had to be awake to let them in to fix it. I tried to get back to sleep, but my Mother figured that since she was in my room already, it'd be a great time to USE THE COMPUTER FOR A HALF AN HOUR, and get mad at me for her needing to wait while the computer starts. This is less than 24 hours after she got angry with me for leaving the computer on when I'm not using it.

Have you ever been woken up after barely any sleep, and you've got that feeling where you'd rather not exist than be awake? Yeah. Me too.

11:30-11:45 - Sleep. I didn't fall asleep until like 11:30 (Insomnia!). She called at 11:45 to make sure I was awake to let the repairmen in. I figured they'd be in and out and I'd be back to sleep by like 1. Tops.

It's almost 3 o'clock, and they just got here. I haven't been this tired since that time I was up until 6 o'clock drinking, then slept on Bryan's kitchen floor until my Spiegel training class started at 8. I mean, uh.....that never happened!

Despite the fact that today, I'm effectively a real George Romero Zombie, life has been great lately. On Saturday, I ran sound at the Upstairs for some cats (I don't remember who they were, sorry). Joe Waye Jr. was there, and I was chatting with him for a while. It was good to talk to him, since I hadn't spoken with him in far too long.

I guess the band must've known him as well, because he sat in for their second set. I was talking to the bass player and he let me sit in for two songs. I'm still floored that I got to jam with Joe Waye jr.! He played the most beautiful guitar I've ever heard anybody play... He'd never played the stuff before, but it sounded like he sat down for months and composed every last note. Every note was there for a reason. I need to get to that point, and I need to play with him a whole lot more - I just really need to play a whole lot more, with some more people.

Last night, Cori and I saw Hulk Out and Kill. They're a good band but they have some tone and timing issues. Fun to watch. This was one of those shows that only happens when the planets line up or something - Everyone was there, and everyone was having a great time. Good people, good music, strong drink, good times.

Carmen Townsend & the Shakey Deals played next - They really never cease amazing me when I see them live. I've never seen a band give off/focus/direct as much positive, happy energy as they do. It's really one of those things that I can't put my finger on... they've just got *something* that I've never heard before. If that band isn't famous by the time I'm 30, I'll eat my hat. It's a big hat.
Really though, I don't remember ever leaving one of their gigs and being anything but excited at the prospect of seeing them again. If you get the chance to go see them live, DO IT!

The rest of today promises to be quite good. Caffeinated. One toke over the line. Working furnace. Music. End transmission.

12:30 pm - Dear National Student Loan Center;
Fuck you.

A Student Loan is a great thing and a great opportunity for people without a whole lot of money to get an education, but they've got some questionable practices. There are two portions of my student loan - One from Big Brother and one from the Bank. I applied for interest relief (6 months where no interest accrues) at the Bank, and they informed me that this would apply to my entire Student Loan, not just the portion from them, since it's all under the same watchful eye, anyway.

I get a notice in the mail a little over a month ago from Big Brother telling me that my account is overdue by a month - I give them a call to find out that they had lied to me previously and that my entire Loan wasn't covered by the same wonderfully large umbrella that covered the other half. I apply for interest relief on that portion as well, and I get no more letters - It would seem as though all is well in the land of my wallet. Not so, says the letter I got in the mail today from Big Brother.

I call them for the 3rd time (Once to ask about interest relief, once to find out why they were fucking me, and this makes 3).. It turns out that despite the fact that it doesn't say this anywhere on the application or on any of the attached literature that you automatically get denied if you use a pencil on any part of your application - Without any notice whatsoever.

Ultimately, I'm now out an extra couple hundred bucks because the swine at the National Student Loan Center seemed to have called in sick on the day they taught the class on "How not to Fuck Someones Credit".

Oh, I forgot to mention an article from the Newspaper this morning. Tuition costs in our Province are the highest in the country (Which somehow makes sense to somebody, somewhere, as we're the poorest Province in the Nation). For what I spent on my 1 (one. single. un.) year, I could have gotten a degree (4 years worth of school) in Newfoundland. I'm not trying to say that my course wasn't worth it in the end - It most definitely was.

I'm not speaking ill of the program or school that I attended, as they're far too good to me and let me use the facilities whenever I feel like it, and they've let me return to get a credit that I didn't last year - Just some food for thought.

My point? When you deal with Student Loan in any capacity - Ask as many questions as humanly possible (When you DO actually get to speak to a human on the telephone. It's kinda rare). Read the fine print twice, and then ask some more questions, no matter how trivial. If given the chance, they'll fuck you coming and going.

01:45 pm - Something to do on Saturday!!
Like good music? Want something to do on Saturday?

Come to the show at the Maple Leaf Lounge on Charlotte street! It'll be all kinds of good times, drinks arent too expensive and neither is cover (4 bucks to get in).

The bands are;

Centralia - A blues/rock four-piece in the vein of Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Police - They'll have copies of their EP for sale, as well, for the kick-ass price of three (3!!!) dollars.

check them out at: www.myspace.com/centraliatheband

Erosion - Great Great GREAT music, amazing vocals, they're just rock-solid. You WONT be disappointed by Erosion, I promise.

check them out at: www.myspace.com/erosioncanada

Aaron Corbett - He's just playing by himself with an acoustic guitar... He's a wicked pop songwriter, and it'll be the funniest thing you've seen in a long time (no, really, he's actually a stand-up comedian).

It starts at 10:30, it's at the Maple Leaf Lounge on Charlotte St. - and it's only 4 bucks! 4 bucks for hours of great live music isnt too shabby.
